PHI enforces all HIPAA rules and regulations

The HIPPA Privacy Rule covers certain health information in any form (computer files, verbal, written, etc.)

Be conscious of your conversations in the home. It is a HIPAA violation and agency policy violation to discuss client care in front of other clients and/or families.

When calling the administrative office, make sure you are conveying the appropriate information to the appropriate department, and not discussing clinical information when not necessary. Think about WHO needs to know and WHAT information they need to know.

Client Medical/Nursing Records are confidential

  • Verify with agency before sharing any client or operational information
  • No confidential conversations in public
  • Release of information requires consent
  • Nurse reports are specific to client care
  • Do not throw client information in the garbage
  • If questions arise, call PHI! Report violators.
